He was a person close to the heart of God- David
Ramayana- Dhasarathan ruled Ayodhya and he had thousand wives. Rama, Laksman, Barathan and Sathruga were the four sons told about quite often. Raman was the crown prince but Kaikei wanted her son Barathan to inherit the throne and Dhasarathan also accepted for this. Rama was sent to the wilderness and Sita and Lakshmanan accompanied him. Then in the forest, Lakshmanan insults the sister of Ravana. Ravana takes Sita along with him. Rama with the help of Hanuman saves Sita by killing Ravana. Later in his life, Rama ascends the throne, but still he was unhappy because of the separation of Sita.
The shepherd David was anointed as the king of Israel by the prophet Samuel. Even though David got many chances to kill Saul, he refused to do so because Saul was anointed by God. David praises God all the time through his songs. David follows the laws given by God. He overcame his enemies wherever he went. After a long struggle, he was crowned as the King. As soon as he became the king, he brought to Israel, the Ark of the Covenant. When David decided to build a temple, God said that only his Solomon will build it. Music, song, dance were encouraged to perform in the temple and he even assigned men for that. He was a person close to the heart of God. Though David had seven hundred wives, only five are mentioned in the Bible and he had many children but only five are mentioned- Amnon, Absalom, Adonijah, Solomon and Nathanael.
David killed a man named Uriah for the sake of Bathsheba (wife of Uriah). But He repented after the words from Nathanael. Later, the reason for all the tragedies in his life was his mistake of killing Uriah and taking his wife. Amnon, son of David lusted after Tamar, daughter of David from another wife and went into her. But then he did not wish to see her face after that. Absalom killed Amnon because the injustice done to Tamar, his sister. So, Absalom ran in fear of David to the neighboring countries. Then he came back to his country with the help of Joab.
There was none so handsome and appreciated like Absalom in whole of Israel. He was perfect from head to toe (2 Samuel 14:25). Absalom had three sons and a daughter named Tamar. Absalom earned men and charioteers and moreover he would talk and enquire all men standing at the gates of the city. Absalom says,”Look your case is good and right, but there is no deputy of the king to hear you. Moreover Absalom would say,’ Oh that I were made judge in the land and everyone who has any suit or case would come to me; then I would give him justice”. And so it was, whenever anyone came near to bow down to him, that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him. In this manner, Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to king for the judgment. So, Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
